Volleyball Stays Perfect, Clinch KIAC Regular Season Title
Richmond, IN---The Asbury College volleyball team locked up the KIAC regular season title by staying perfect in the conference and beating Indiana University East on the road Saturday afternoon. The Eagles finished the conference season 7-0 and will be the top seed in the conference tournament to begin this Friday November 14th at Midway.
Asbury (24-15, 7-0) was led by Ellen Adkison's 14 kills and Lauren Budde's 10 against the Red Wolves. Christina Marye had a very strong match with six kills, nine digs, three solo blocks, and two assisted blocks. Hannah Wheeler led the team with 24 of the teams' 85 digs. Adkison also had 19 digs. Emily Andrews led the way with 26 assists and seven kills, while Julia Armstrong had 20 assists of her own.
The Eagles came on strong in the first game winning 27-25 behind 18 team kills and a .241 attack percentage. They dropped the second game 25-16 with 10 attack errors in that game alone. They then rallied winning games three and four 25-18 and 25-19.
The Eagles have one final regular season match before post-season play as they will travel to Union College (KY) to battle the Tigers Tuesday November 11th at 7pm. Asbury will start the KIAC Tournament on Friday November 14th at 11am when they take on Berea (1-9, 0-7) who the Eagles defeated 3-0 earlier this season.
