Eagles Advance to NAIA Opening Round for First Time

Wilmore, KY---The Asbury College volleyball team will compete in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round on Saturday November 22nd at Olivet Nazarene University at 2pm central time.  

Asbury (27-16) earned the right to compete in the 2008 NAIA Volleyball National Championship by winning the KIAC Tournament this past weekend.  It was the first conference title for the Eagles and this will mark their first ever appearance in the NAIA Tournament.  

Olivet Nazarene (36-9), #15 in the final NAIA Volleyball Rating, won the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament and went a perfect 10-0 in the conference during the regular season.  The Tigers have won four straight CCAC Tournament titles.  

The winner of the Opening Round Match will join the top 12 seeds who received byes and the 11 other Opening Round winners in Sioux City, Iowa for the 2008 NAIA Volleyball National Championships.  There will be pool play followed by a 12 team single elimination tournament.  The event will be held at the Tyson Events Center December 2-4.
