Volleyball Splits Weekend Trip
Johnson City, TN---The volleyball team split a pair of games this weekend at Milligan College in Tennessee, beating the University of the Cumberlands 3-1 and losing to Milligan 1-3. The Eagles had one of their best offensive matches of the season against Cumberlands with 54 kills.
Asbury (21-11) took down Cumberlands in their first game on Friday 25-21, 16-25, 25-16, 25-14 behind Ellen Adkison's 16 kills and 22 digs. Christian Marye was second on the team with eight kills, and had three block assists as well. Lauren Budde, Abby Andrews, and Emily Andrews each had seven kills in the match. Emily Andrews led the team with 30 assists, the fourth time she's had 30 or more assists in a match this season.
Hannah Wheeler led the defensive unit with 25 digs. Jordan Rust had two solo and two assisted blocks.
The Eagles struggled more in their second match against the Lady Buffs from Milligan College, falling 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 23-25. Asbury was led this time by Lauren Budde with 10 kills and four block assists. Adkison had 9 kills and Emily Andrews had 8. Andrews again led the team with 20 assists. Wheeler had 15 digs to lead the team.
Asbury will travel to Grayson, Kentucky to take on Kentucky Christian University Tuesday October 28th at 7pm. The Eagles return home Thursday October 30th to battle Midway at 7pm.
