Eagles Take Down Midway

Midway, KY---The Asbury College volleyball team defeated conference opponent Midway College 3-0 Tuesday September 30. The Eagles had no trouble taking out Midway with game scores of 25-9, 25-9, 25-10.

Mayre led the Eagles to a win over KIAC opponent Midway with 8 kills and 2 total blocks.

Asbury (13-8, 2-0) had 14 players see action in the three games, with junior middle hitter Christina Marye leading the way with eight kills. The Eagles were very balanced with eight different players recording at least one kill, and four recording five or more. Seniors Ellen Adkison and Abby Andrews had seven and six kills respectively. Freshmen Tani Godby had five kills in only two games.

Sophomore setter Emily Andrews led the team with 19 assists bringing her season total to 436. Defensively Asbury was led by senior Katie Lee's nine digs and sophomore Hannah Wheeler's eight, the team had 32 in all.

Asbury will return home for Homecoming week with two matches, the first is Thursday at 7pm against Cincinnati Christian. Saturday the Eagles will host Kentucky Christian and 2pm with Senior Day activities immediately before the match.
