Eagles Survive Against Kentucky State

Lindsay Ibold had 9 kills and 1 solo block in Asbury's 3-1 victory over Kentucky State on Tuesday night.

Wilmore, KY---The Asbury volleyball team won their season-high fifth straight on Tuesday, knocking off NCAA II Kentucky State 3-1.  The Eagles dropped the first game 25-19, but rallied to win the next three 25-22, 25-20, 25-22.

Asbury (16-8) defeated the Thorobrettes for the second time this season and the fifth straight since 2006.  The Eagles came out flat in game one, losing a game at home for the first time since they lost to Bryan College 1-3 on September 6th.

Senior Ellen Adkison led the squad with 12 kills and was second with 15 digs.  Junior Kelsie Martin, in for the injured Hannah Wheeler, led the team with 17 digs on the evening.  Freshmen  Lindsay Ibold continues to impress with nine kills and only two errors.  

Sophomore Emily Andrews led the team with 22 assists and also added six kills and six digs.  Sophomore Lauren Budde had eight kills and two solo blocks.  Freshmen Tani Godby came in during game two and was impressive, recording six kills and only one error in 17 attacks.

Asbury sits atop the KIAC as the only undefeated team remaining, and they'll look to stay that way this weekend in West Virginia.  The Eagles will take on two conference opponents in Mountain State and Indiana Southeast on Saturday.  The Eagles return home Monday October 13th to host Berea at 7pm.
