Volleyball Splits Two

WILMORE, KY--- The Asbury College Women's Volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday September 6th in the Luce Center. The Eagles hosted a quad event that also included Bryan College, West Virginia Tech, and University of Virginia-Wise.

Asbury dropped their first match of the day to Bryan College in four games, 15-25, 13-25, 25-22, 23-25. After dropping the first two games Asbury fought back to take the third, and battled to the end in the fourth. Bryan's front line was just too much as the Lions had 27 total blocks in the match.

The Eagles were led offensively by junior middle hitter Christina Marye's eight kills. Sophomore setter/outside hitter Emily Andrews added 18 assists and 12 digs to the Eagles effort.

Asbury bounced back in their second match of the day taking down West Virginia Tech in three games 25-7, 25-16, 25-9. The Eagles were led by freshmen middle hitter Lindsey Ibold's 10 kills. Emily Andrews added another 21 assists to bring her daily total to 39. Andrews and senior outside hitter Ellen Adkison each had 4 service aces in the match.

Other action of the day included Bryan College defeating West Virginia Tech 25-12, 25-9, 25-14 and Virginia-Wise taking down West Virginia Tech 25-14, 25-15, 25-17.

Asbury's record now sits at 6-2 after a 2-1 weekend, Asbury defeated Virginia-Wise in three games Friday night. The Eagles will travel to Frankfort, Kentucky on Tuesday, September 9 to take on Kentucky State University at 7 p.m. Asbury won't return home until September 17against Transylvania University.
