Volleyball Competes in Centre Classic
Danville, KY--- The Asbury College volleyball team traveled to Danville, Kentucky to take part in the Centre Volleyball Classic at Centre College. The Eagles went 1-2 against NCAA III members on Saturday September 13, the lone win coming against the host Colonels.

Asbury (8-4) came back from down two games to none to force a fifth game in the first match against Transylvania University but came up just short, losing 13-15 in that final game. Senior outside hitter Ellen Adkison led the team with 14 kills in the match; fellow senior outside hitter Abby Andrews had 12 kills. Emily Andrews, a sophomore setter and outside hitter, led the team with 21 assists. Sophomore libero Hannah Wheeler tied with Adkison with 22 defensive digs. A complete box score can be found here.
Match two saw the Eagles fall in four games to Hanover 25-18, 25-21, 28-26, 12-25. Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Budde led the team with 11 kils. Emily Andrews once again led the team 22 assists, and Wheeler added 11 digs. A complete box score can be found here.
Asbury scored their only victory in match three against Centre. This time the Eagles jumped out in front winning the first two games 25-22, 25-22. The Colonels would take games three and four 25-22, 25-14, before Asbury rallied to win the deciding game 15-8. Adkison again led the team with 14 kills, while Budde added 11. Emily Andrews led the team in assists with 25 and digs with 17, she also added five kills. A complete box score can be found here.
The Eagles will return home this week as they get a rematch with Transylvania Wednesday September 17 at 7pm.
