Marisa Abell
Abell begins her first season as the head coach at Asbury for the 2013 season, joining the staff in the summer of 2012. Before Asbury Abell spent the past four years as an assistant coach at Lexington Lafayette High School, helping the Lady Generals to three district championships, one region title and one berth to the KHSAA State Tournament in 2011.
Lafayette compiled a 113-34 overall record and a 59-7 mark in the 11th Region during Abell’s four years. The 2012 team went 27-8 with a 15-1 record in the 11th Region, but were upset int he district tournament. In 2011 the Lady Generals won their third straight district title and the 11th Region crown with a 10-0 defeat of Henry Clay. The team earned their way to the KHSAA State Tournament, posting a 2-2 mark while becoming one of the final eight teams to play.
The 2010 season saw the Lady Generals post a 35-5 record and claim their second straight district title. The 2009 team posted a 25-9 mark and a 13-3 record in games against regional competition and claim the first district title with Abell on staff.
Abell currently works as a Physical Therapy Technician at Buffalo Run Physical Therapy and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Biology. She is familiar with central Kentucky, graduating from Bryan Station High School in Lexington.
