NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Asbury softball was overpowered on Tuesday afternoon by Indiana Southeast, 20-3 and 4-0 in KIAC action. The Eagles have dropped three straight and seven of their last eight after a four-game winning streak.
Maris Harreld collected two hits and scored two runs in game one. The Eagles (11-17, 8-6 KIAC) had only five hits in the game as IUS committed five errors which led to all three runs being unearned. In game two the Eagles had the tying run in the on deck circle as the game ended, stranding two runners on base. Asbury left eight on in the game. In addition to five hits the Eagles worked four walks from Jordan Batliner. Batliner was able to overcome the base runners with nine strikeouts over seven innings in the complete game shutout to improve to 3-1 on the season.
