Softball Drops Season Opener to No. 15 Lindsey Wilson

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Asbury softball collected only one hit in two games against No. 15 Lindsey Wilson on Monday in the season opener for the Eagles. The Blue Raiders won both games, 5-0 in game one and 9-0 in five innings in game two.
AnnaBeth Hill provided the lone hit on the day for the Eagles in the seventh inning of game one. Asbury worked two walks on the day as well. Maris Harreld sturck out five in game one, throwing a complete game but allowed 10 hits. Only three of the five runs charged to her were earned after an error in the fifth allowed two runs to score.
Lauren Seibert struck out 10 for the Blue Raiders (5-0) in game one and allowed just one hit. Summer Rattliff got the start in the circle for the Eagles in game two but was let down by the defense in the second inning. The Eagles committed two errors in the inning and although seven of the nine runs charged to Rattliff were earned, the errors changed the dynamic of the inning. Lindsey Wilson scored all nine runs in second and had 10 of their 12 hits. Harreld pitched the final two innings and struck out four.
Asbury is scheduled to travel to Bryan College on Friday for a doubleheader before battling No. 11 Lee University on Saturday.
