Asbury Nets Ten NAIA Scholar Teams
Ten of Asbury’s 15 varsity programs were named 2011-12 NAIA Scholar Teams as announced by the association. Seven of the 10 teams were women’s teams for the Eagles, highlighted by the women’s soccer team with a school-high 3.44 GPA.
Joining the women’s soccer team was the women’s swimming (3.40), women’s cross country (3.34 GPA), women’s basketball (3.33), volleyball (3.33), softball (3.20) and women’s tennis (3.17). On the men’s side the men’s tennis team paced the field with a 3.28 GPA. The men’s cross country team (3.17) and men’s soccer team (3.01) were also recognized.
For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade-point average includes all varsity student-athletes certified as eligible.
