Eagles Overpower Alice Lloyd

Asbury would later have to forfeit both games after the use of ineligible players.

WarfordWILMORE, Ky. – Asbury won their sixth straight with a sweep of Alice Lloyd on Saturday, 11-1 and 15-0.  The Eagles now sit at 11-15 and 8-2 in the KIAC after staring the season 3-11. 

In game one Miranda Drury drove in three with two doubles as the Eagles scored in each of their four at-bats.  Maris Harreld hit her second homerun of the season to lead off the third, and added a single and scored in the fourth.  Mary Ann Warford also had a multi-hit game, scored three times and stole three bases.

Kelsey Robinson started in the circle and went two innings before giving way to Ashleigh West.  West picked up the win to improve to 2-4 on the season.  West allowed all three of Alice Lloyd’s hits and their lone run while striking out three.

In game two the Eagles scored at least two runs in every inning en route to their fourth shutout win of the season.  It was their third on the week after also shutting out Midway and Berea.  All four shutouts have come in conference play.

Warford and Drury each collected three hits in the game as Warford stole four bases and scored three times while Drury drove in four and scored three times.  Julie Jarboe drove in three with a pair of singles and also stole two bases.  Hailey Vernon also drove in two with a pair of hits. 

Maris Harreld evened her record at 4-4 after four innings of near perfect ball.  The junior allowed only one hit and one runner reached on an error as Harreld struck out five.  Sarah Pattengale worked a perfect fifth to finish the game. 

The Eagles will be back in action on Monday as they travel to St. Catharine for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
