Eagles Drop Rain Shortened Game to Wildcats
MARION, Ind. – Clutch hits keep on eluding the Eagles as Asbury suffered their third straight loss over the weekend, 3-1 against Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday. The game was called after five innings due to rain and game two was cancelled.
Asbury (15-20) left five runners on base and was doubled off of first on a pop out to end the fourth. The Eagles had runners at the corners with a run already in when Sarah Patrick popped out to first and Amber Taylor was doubled off first to end the threat.
Earlier in the fourth Hailey Vernon led off with a double and later came around to score on Taylor’s single to left. Asbury had three of their seven hits in the inning but scored only one time. Vernon was the only Eagles with two hits.
Maris Harreld falls to 6-7 on the season after five innings of work. The junior allowed seven hits and two earned runs and didn’t walk a batter. She struck out only one. Abbie Froman improved to 26-5 on the year with the complete game.
Indiana Wesleyan takes the season series 3-0 after sweeping the Eagles 5-3 and 1-0 back in March.
Asbury will return to action on Tuesday at Indiana Southeast at 2 p.m.
