Tigers Sweep Eagles

Mary Ann WarfordGEORGETOWN, Ky. – Asbury’s three-game winning streak has quickly become a three-game losing streak after being swept by Georgetown College 9-0 and 10-2 on Wednesday evening.  The Eagles are scheduled to play a doubleheader each of the next three days.

Asbury (3-7) briefly led in game two after scoring in the top of the first inning on an Amber Taylor double.  Mary Ann Warford had led off the game with an infield single.  The Tigers (8-4) tied the game in the bottom half and took the lead with two more in the second.  Taylor closed the gap to 3-2 in the fourth with a lead-off double and later scoring on Brittany Hogg’s groundout. 

The Eagles could muster only four hits in game two but hung with Georgetown until the sixth when the Tigers erupted with six runs, four unearned.  Ashleigh West (1-4) took the loss allowing 14 hits and four walks.  Only six of Georgetown’s 10 runs were earned.

In game one the Eagles committed three errors behind Kelsey Robinson (2-3) and allowed four more unearned runs.  The Tigers scored at least two runs in each of their four at-bats.  The Eagles collected only three hits against Michelle Dresselhaus.

Asbury is scheduled to host Pikeville on Thursday for a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.  They will hit the road to open KIAC play on Friday at Alice Lloyd before returning home to host Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday.
