Harreld, Warford Sweep Weekly Awards

BEREA, Ky. - Asbury University junior Maris Harreld and senior Mary Ann Warford were named the KIAC softball pitcher and player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, March 19^th.

Harreld pitched 17.1 innings over three games last week and finished with a 1.21 earned run averaged. She ended the week with a 1-1 record. Asbury lost a pair of close games to Lindsey Wilson and defeated Brescia 6-3. The junior pitcher only allowed three earned runs last week. She led Asbury to a win over Brescia while pitching all seven innings and striking out four opposing batters. She is currently 1-2 on the season with a 1.15 ERA.

Warford hit safely in three of four games played last week and finished the week with a .583 batting average (7-for-12). Asbury finished the week with a 2-2 record after losing two games to Lindsey Wilson and picking up two wins against Brescia. The senior center fielder finished the week with a double, 5 stolen bases, and five runs scored. She is currently hitting .462 (18-for-39).

Asbury is currently 5-11 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They will return to action on March 20^th when they host IU Southeast for a doubleheader.
