Asbury Drops Two to NCAA II Kentucky Wesleyan
OWENSBORO, Ky. – One single run is all Asbury softball could push across in two games against Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday night, dropping two to the Lady Panthers 3-1 and 3-0. The Eagles have lost a season-high three straight.
Asbury (9-6) would have runners on second and third with two outs in the seventh inning of game one but couldn’t keep the inning alive as Kendall Ratchford grounded out to end the game. The Eagles collected only five hits in the game, two in that final inning. They scored their lone run in the fourth to tie the game at 1-1. Emily Ethington knocked in the only run after a walk and a single by Jessica Johnson and Sarah Patrick led off the inning.
Kentucky Wesleyan (8-17) took the lead with two runs in the fifth. Johnson started in the circle for the Eagles taking the loss and dropping to 2-2 on the season.
Rebecca Baker and Danielle Flood were the only Eagles to pick up hits in game two, collecting two each including a double. Kentucky Wesleyan scored one run in the third and two more in the sixth. Maris Harreld gave up only two hits and three runs, only two earned in 5.2 innings of work. She takes the loss and falls to 5-2 overall.
