Harreld Named KIAC Pitcher of the Week
Asbury University sophomore pitcher Maris Harreld (Brandenburg, Ky.) was named the KIAC softball pitcher of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, March 7th. In game 1 of a doubleheader, Harreld tossed a no-hitter in Asbury’s first game of the season as they defeated Alice Lloyd College 17-0. Harreld threw 5 scoreless innings while striking out six.
The no-no is the first recorded by one pitcher in school history. Last year two pitchers combined to no-hit Ohio Christian. Harreld led the team last year with 104.1 innings pitched while striking out 76. Asbury also defeated Alice Lloyd in the second game by a score of 25-1. The Eagles will return to action on March 12th when they host University of the Cumberlands at 1:00 pm.
