Field Work Continues at Softball

Wilmore, KY – Renovations continue for Asbury University Athletics as an irrigation system is being put in at the softball field.  The system should be operational this fall.

Along with the sprinkler and irrigation system, dirt is being brought in to raise the level of the field to remove any lips between the grass and infield.  The complete system will set out to eliminate pools of water forming after rain and to keep the field in pristine condition during all seasons.

“The addition of an irrigation system to our softball field allows us to take better care of what we have,” Athletic Director Gary Kempf said.  “This is something that we needed to do so our field is playable after rain storms, and safe for our kids.”

Similar work will begin at the baseball field in the coming weeks.

Part of the irrigation system that will be laid below field level.          One of the trenches that will hold the pipe for the system.      A sprinkler head in the ground.    Dirt was brought in to raise the level of the field.
