Eagles Pound Cougars

Beckley, WV - The Asbury College softball team picked up two big wins over KIAC foe Mountain State on Saturday.  The bats came alive for the Eagles as they won 14-2 and 15-7 over the Cougars.

Asbury (16-11, 8-5) was led by Carrie Wilderman who had five hits in the two games including four in game one.  Wilderman also blasted her team-high ninth homer of the season and knocked in two on the day.  Wilderman also went the distance inside the circle in both games improving her record to 10-8.  Emily Ethington also collected five hits in the two games including four doubles and drove in six.  Kendall Ratchford picked up three hits in game one and Mirranda Drury had three hits in game two.

The Eagles were helped out by mistakes by the Cougars who committed seven errors on the day which led to 11 unearned runs for Asbury.  The Eagles also drew nine total walks which helped them score 29 runs in the two days on 25 hits.

Asbury was scheduled to travel to Indiana Southeast today(Monday) but that has been rained out with no make-up date at this time.  The Eagles will head down to Berea on Tuesday April 21st for two more KIAC games.  First pitch is set for 5:30pm.
