Eagles cruise to 62 point victory
Wilmore, KY---The Asbury College Eagles followed up a five point win on the weekend with a 62 point win against Boyce Bible College Tuesday, December 9 in the Luce Center. The 113-51 victory was the second win by more than 60 points in the last week, beating Johnson Bible College by 79 last Tuesday, December 2.
Asbury (9-4) quickly moved to a big first half lead, the biggest at halftime 60-15. Michael Spann, recently named KIAC Player of the Week knocked down four first half 3-pointers and finished with 19 points in 13 minutes. The Eagles had four players in double figures, Daniel Drury had 11 off the bench and Brian Johnson and Keith Price added 10 a piece. Overall 16 Eagles scored in the game.
Johnson only played 11 minutes but finished with nine assists and six rebounds along with those 10 points. Asbury outrebounded the Bulldogs by 30, 54-24. The Eagles had 35 assists on 46 made field goals. Daniel Drury added seven assists. The Eagles also knocked down 19 3-pointers in shooting 43% from behind the arc.
Asbury will host Spalding University Thursday December 11 at 8pm, following the women taking on St. Catharine's at 6pm. Asbury will finish the semester on the road Saturday December 13 at 8:30 pm when they take on NCAA II Kentucky Wesleyan in Owensboro, Kentucky.
