Josh Oakley

Head Coach, Men's Soccer

Josh Oakley begins his fifth season as the head coach of men's soccer. In 2005, Oakley guided his team to a 12-8-1 finish with a second-place finish in the KIAC. For the achievement, Oakley was named the 2005 KIAC Co-Coach of the Year. In 2002, his first season with the Eagles, he led the squad to a 9-9-2 record, the first .500 season for Asbury soccer since 1985. In addition to his coaching duties, Oakley also teaches sports management and physical activity classes for the HPERA department.

Oakley is a 1998 graduate of Monmouth College where he received a bachelor of arts degree in physical education with a concentration in sports marketing. He received his master of science degree from Eastern Illinois University in 2000 with a concentration in sports administration.

Oakley began his college playing career at Indiana Wesleyan University in 1994 and was part of that season's conference championship team. Oakley transferred to Monmouth College for his sophomore season, where he was a two-time All-Midwest Conference first team selection. He led the team in scoring as a junior with 11 goals, and helped lead the team to a Midwest Conference championship. As a senior he again led the team with 14 goals and was the second leading scorer in the Midwest Conference. Oakley set the Monmouth single game points record with eight points (three goals and two assists). Oakley also brings international playing experience to the team. In 1993 he was selected to play in Great Britain with the USA Ambassadors. In 1994 he was selected to play with the Charlotte Eagles Youth team in Holland and Denmark.

He then served as the assistant coach at Mattoon High School for one season, and as head coach at Mohomet Seymour High School. In 2000 he began a two-season stint as the top assistant coach at Eastern Illinois University, an NCAA Division I program.
