Asbury Named NAIA Champions of Character
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Asbury University has once again been named a NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Institution for 2011-12. Asbury received the honor for the 2010-11 year as well.
"We are very proud to receive the Five-Star designation," stated Athletics Director Mark Perdue. "Our student athletes and coaches have truly embraced what it means to be a person of character and how sports can positively impact others."
The Champions of Character Scorecard measures each institution's commitment to the NAIA Champions of Character program. Points are earned in five key areas: character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion. Institutions earned points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by obtaining zero ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year.
Nine of the 11 members of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference were also named Champions of Character Five-Star Institutions.
