Asbury Announces Golf Team for 2010
Asbury College and the Athletics Department are excited to announce the new men's and women's golf program to begin fall 2010. The College is beginning the search process for a coach and will recruit the new team during the 2009-2010 academic year.
The Asbury Eagles compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The new team will be the fifth men's golf team and third women's golf team in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC). Asbury's golf programs will compete throughout the academic year with championship play during the spring.
"We are very excited to add men's and women's golf to our department," said Athletic Director Gary Kempf. "Our goal is to find young men and women who want to grow spiritually, academically, and athletically."
Golf will become the 15th varsity team supported at Asbury College. These teams join baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, and volleyball.
The Asbury Eagle golf team is planning to secure a home course in the Wilmore area.
