Luce Center re-opens gym floor
WILMORE, KY-When the volleyball team takes the court this court this weekend for the Asbury Tri-Match against Trevecca and Mountain State, they will do so on the newly painted Luce Center floor. The new floor, which was unveiled this summer, features an updated Asbury Eagle in center court, purple three-point arc, natural wood three-second lane and black baseline. All three volleyball courts were also painted to be consistent for regulation play.
The new floor was designed in collaboration with the Marketing and Communication, and Athletic offices. This marks the first time the floor was completely re-painted since the Luce Center opened in 1993. The colors used-purple, white, black and gray- represent the new color panel as prescribed by the Office of Marketing and Communication. The colors and new Asbury Eagle are part of a concentrated integrated marketing effort on behalf of the College and the newly renamed Office of Marketing and Communication, formerly the Office of Public Relations.
"In order for Asbury College to stand out among the many colleges and universities around the country, we must be unique and consistent," said Frank Goad, Director of Marketing and Communications. "The Luce Center floor marks the start of what will be a very extensive, collaborative effort on behalf of all departments on campus to integrate our marketing and communications. Athletics is such a huge vehicle to market the institution, it's only fitting that we begin with our spirit marks."
The Asbury Eagles athletic Web site also received a new look, to follow the Eagles visit asbury.edu/athletics.
