Don’t miss the Asbury Bowl, Sept. 5
WILMORE, KY—On Friday, Sept. 5, Asbury College goes football—high school football. Asbury College is the official sponsor of the football rivalry between Kentucky’s two largest Christian high schools, the Lexington Christian Academy Eagles and the Christian Academy of Louisville Centurions.
The Asbury Bowl, as the game has been dubbed, is in Louisville this year. Asbury Bowl t-shirts in either CAL-red or LCA-blue will be given out to the first 100 students from each high school to visit the Asbury College booth. The Lexington Christian Academy Eagles are defending the traveling trophy they won last year. The LCA Eagles advanced all the way to the state title game played at Papa John’s Stadium in December 2007.
Members of the Asbury College Athletics Department and Admissions Office will be at the game to give out t-shirts and meet high school students and families. “We see this as a great opportunity to build a relationship between Asbury, LCA, and CAL,” said Gary Kempf, Asbury College Athletics Director. “The athletic programs at Asbury College continue to grow and improve because of outstanding high school student-athletes who decide to continue their athletic careers at Asbury College. We believe that the educational and athletic experience students have at Asbury College is second to none and we plan to continue recruiting excellent student-athletes from our Kentucky high schools.” Kempf will address both teams in the locker room before the game and will be on the field to make the post-game trophy presentation.
Concurrent with the sponsorship of the Asbury Bowl, the College will have a series of 30-second radio ads played during broadcasts of all LCA football games this season. The games are broadcast by WJMM, 99.1 FM, a Christian radio station based in Versailles, Ky.
