Westlund Earns NAIA Scholar Athlete Recognition
Asbury junior Justin Westlund was named Daktronics-NAIA Men’s Tennis Scholar Athlete by the association on Friday. Westlund is one of just three men’s tennis players in the KIAC to receive the honor and becomes the 25th AU athlete to receive the honor this year.
Westlund posted a 12-5 overall record in singles play this year, garnering All-KIAC honors for the second time in his three years. During his time he has posted a 32-13 singles record.
The Eagles have won back-to-back KIAC championships and have won 30 matches over the past two seasons. Westlund is currently working towards a degree in Mathematics.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
