Tennis Falls to No. 10 Bethel

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Asbury men’s tennis lost for the first time this season, 9-0 to No. 10 Bethel (Tenn.) in a match that was moved from Wilmore to the Bluegrass Tennis Club in Lexington due to cold weather. 

Bethel (14-0) easily won all three doubles matches, 8-3, 8-2 and 8-3.  Nathan Schley put up the best effort in singles on the day, taking Peter Baca to three sets before losing 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.  This was a rematch from the ITA Regional quarterfinal round when Schley retired in the third set due to injury.  Scott Layton also put forth a valiant effort losing at number two, 7-6, 6-3 to Robin Demasse.  Daniel Harris was the only other Eagle to win more than two games, losing at number five 6-3, 6-4 to Travis Hyman.

The Eagles will host Indiana Tech on Monday at 3 pm.
