KIAC Coaches Pick Men's Tennis to Repeat

Scott LaytonBEREA, Ky. – Asbury men’s tennis has been picked to repeat as the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champions by league coaches.  The Eagles won their first KIAC regular season title in 14 years and their first-ever KIAC Tournament championship in 2012, capped off with the program’s first trip to the NAIA National Tournament.

The Eagles secured six of the seven first-place votes and 48 points in the preseason poll.  The 2013 NAIA preseason poll will be released on Tuesday.  Asbury finished last year with a 14-7 overall record and a perfect 5-0 mark in league play.

Brescia claimed the other first-place vote and finished tied for second with Indiana Southeast with 49 points.  Indiana East was picked fourth with 27 points and St. Louis Pharmacy fifth with 22 points.  Berea was picked sixth with 14 points and Alice Lloyd rounds out the field with seven points.

Asbury is currently 4-0 on the season after the fall slate and will open the spring portion on March 20 at St. Catharine.  They open at home a day later against Bethel (Tenn.).  The KIAC Tournament will be held at Indiana Southeast April 26-27.
