Tennis Looks For First Bid to Nationals
RICHMOND, Ind. – Asbury men’s tennis will be out to win their first KIAC Tournament Title as action gets under way on Friday morning. Asbury enters as the top seed in the six-team field after a perfect 5-0 conference mark.
The Eagles won their third overall KIAC Regular Season Title and first since 1998 with their perfect run through the conference. Coach Jarred Miller’s squad will receive a bye through the first round and take on the winner of #4 seed Indiana East and #5 St. Louis Pharmacy. Asbury defeated both teams 9-0 this year.
On the other side of the bracket #2 seed Indiana Southeast will await the winner of #3 Brescia and #6 Berea. First round games will begin at 9 am on Friday with the semi-finals taking place at 1 pm. The finals are scheduled for 10 am on Saturday.
This year’s event is being hosted by Indiana East at Glen Miller Park and Richmond High School.
The winner receives a berth into the NAIA National Championships held at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala. beginning on May 15. The 24-team field seeds the top-eight teams with the bottom 16 playing a first round game.
