Tennis Falls to No. 13 Blue Raiders
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Asbury men’s tennis fell to No. 13 Lindsey Wilson 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon in a match played Bluegrass Tennis Club. The Eagles will have 10 days between matches before they play No. 22 Campbellsville.
Asbury (3-4) were overmatched from the start but freshman Nathan Schley nearly pulled out wins in both number one singles and doubles. Schley took the first set from Fernando Bogajo 7-6 (6) before dropping the second 6-0 and the third set tie-break 1-0 (12-10). Bogajo is the top rated player in the region and 6th nationally.
In doubles Schely teamed with fellow freshman Scott Layton and pushed Bogajo and Pablo Vilches to 9-8 (2). Schley falls to 4-2 on the season in singles and together with Layton fall to 5-2 in doubles. Layton would also lose at number two doubles 6-2, 6-0.
The Eagles would win only eight games in the bottom four singles matches and lost doubles 8-4 and 8-3.
Asbury will play host to No. 22 Campbellsville in their first real home match of the season on March 2 at 3 p.m.
