Men Dominate in First Match of the Fall

FRANKLIN, Ind. – Asbury’s men started their fall season on the right foot, defeating Franklin College 8-1 on Saturday afternoon.  The Eagles took every match except number three doubles.

A pair of freshman led the Eagles at the top as Nathan Schley and Scott Layton paired up to win number one doubles 8-1.  Both would continued to dominate on the day as Schley took number one singles 6-2 and 6-0 and Layton was even more impressive with a 6-1, 6-0 win at number two singles.

Juniors Curran Howell and Braun Applegate won number two doubles 8-1 and then went on to each win singles, number six for Howell and number three for Applegate.  Daniel Harris and Justin Westlund rounded out the sweep of singles with wins at number four and five.

The men will be in action again on Friday and Saturday September 9 and 10 as they host their only matches in the fall.
