Eagles' Streak Snapped by Grenadiers

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Indiana Southeast Grenadiers snapped the Eagles’ five match winning streak with a 6-3 victory, giving Asbury’s men their first loss since a season opening 9-0 defeat at the hands of Campbellsville.

Asbury (5-1, 2-1 KIAC) had some success in doubles, winning number two and three 9-7.  Justin Westlund and Nick Nozell improved to 4-0 playing at number two doubles and are 5-1 overall.  Taylor Wise and Graham Howell remained perfect on the season, now 6-0 overall and 5-0 at the third position.

Westlund continues his strong freshman campaign as the only winner in singles play on Tuesday.  Playing in the sixth position, Westlund won relatively easily 6-1 and 6-3.  He is now 5-1 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in KIAC matches.  Nick Nozell, playing in the fifth spot, fell in three sets to Jimmy Nungester 6-2, 6-7, 1-0.

Asbury will host Brescia University in another KIAC match on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
