Eagles Cruise Over IUE

WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury’s men’s tennis improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the KIAC after a 9-0 victory over Indiana East on Friday afternoon.  The Eagles haven’t dropped a singles or doubles match in either KIAC match this season.

Asbury swept the doubles portion of the match as Curran Howell and Braun Applegate took down Justin Judd and Adam Derengowski 8-4 in number one doubles.  In the second slot Justin Westlund and Nick Nozell improved to 3-1 as a duo with a 8-0 victory over Vince Roggero and Matt Jackson.  Graham Howell and Taylor Wise stayed perfect at 4-0 playing number three doubles after defeating Matt Trimnell and Justin Gill 8-1.

The Howell brothers each won their singles matches as Graham took out Judd 7-5, 6-4 at the top spot while Curran beat Derengowski 7-5, 6-4 at the second position.  At the three and four positions Justin Westlund and Nick Nozell took down their opponenets Roggers and Jackson 6-0, 6-0.  Stuart Forrister and James Banter won in the final two spots, Forrister was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Trimnell and Banter rallied after dropping the first set to win 0-6, 6-4, 1-0.

Asbury will host Greenville (Ill.) College on Saturday at 10:00 am.
