Asbury University men’s tennis coach Jarred Miller has announced the signing of Taylor Wise from Western Hills High School in Frankfort, Ky. Wise has been ranked as high as #19 in the state by USTA Kentucky.
Wise has already accomplished a lot at Western Hills and around the state as he plays his final season of high school competition. At the USTA Kenlake Tournament he has placed in the top four on three separate occasions, 3rd Place Fall 2007, and 4th Place Spring and Fall 2008. Wise played into the Round of 16 at the USTA Joe Creason State Qualifier in 2009 and was awarded the sportsmanship award, and was State Runner-Up in the USTA Junior Team Intermediate Division in 2009.
“Taylor is absolutely a perfect fit for Asbury University and our tennis program,” said head coach Jarred Miller. “He is a great kid, a great student, and a great athlete. He will be able to help our team immediately because of his success on the court and his strong desire to continually work to be the best player he can be. We are really excited to add Taylor to our program.”
At Western Hills Wise was named the Rookie of the Year in 2007 and the Most Improved Player in 2008. The Wolverines won the John Harnice Tournament Team Championship in both 2008 and 2009 and Wise was part of the winning doubles team in 2008. He was part of the Doubles Team of the Year at Western Hills in 2007 and 2008, and in 2008 his doubles team took second place in the 8th Region and made the second round at the state tournament.
Wise was an All-State Academic Honorable Mention selectee in 2007, 2008, and 2009 and has been active in Beta Club, French Honor Society, and Tri-M Music Honor Society as well as part of the band.
