Alex Keyser
The 2011-12 season marks the first for Coach Keyser in charge of his alma mater. Keyser swam for the Eagles from 2006-08 and was an assistant coach under former Head Coach Dorothy Kempf from 2008-09.
Originally from Hoyleton, Ill., Keyser spent the 2010-11 season as the head coach of Malone University in Canton, Ohio. While coaching the Pioneers, he led four men and four women to NAIA Nationals in the program’s second year of competition. At nationals the women scored points for the first time at the event. They would also be named Scholar Team All-American by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
Keyser is an American Swim Coaches Assocation (ASCA) and USA Swimming certified coach.
Keyser transferred to Asbury in 2006 and immediately became an NAIA National Qualifier. He would go to nationals in both years at Asbury, swimming in the 500 and 1650 free and 200 fly events as well as relay events. He was an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and a CSCAA All-American in the 800 free relay in 2008. Keyser served as a team captain as a junior and senior.
Before transferring to Asbury, Keyser swam at Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois for one year. While with the Lynx he would place in the Top-16 in both the 200 fly and 500 free at NJCAA Nationals.
Keyser swam for CRCY Barracudas while in high school and was a YMCA Short Course and Long Course National Qualifier.
A 2008 graduate from Asbury, Keyser completed his BA in Communications with a minor in Music. He recently graduated in the fall of 2011 with a MSS in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy. Keyser currently is a part-time professor in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department.
Keyser married the former Lindsay Keyes, also a former Asbury swimmer. The couple currently resides in Wilmore.
