Eagles Compete in Double-Dual at Union
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Asbury swimming competed in a double-dual meet with Union (Ky.) and Bethel (Tenn.) on Saturday. The women won both portions of the meet, 166-70 over Union and 208-21 against Bethel while the men defeated Bethel 219-11 and lost to Union 137-125.
Katie Duncan and Kayley Valentien made national cuts during the day as Duncan qualified in the 200 back with a 2:15.15 swim and Valentien qualified in the 200 breast with a 2:35.50 time. The women won nine races on the day as Elizabeth Bowman won both distance races, the 1000 free and the 500 free. Sarah Fredrickson won the 100 breast while Asbury swept the butterfly races with Caitlin Gagnon taking the 200 and Taryn Albright winning the 100. Valentien also went on to win the 200 IM.
Trevor Ehrenheim continued to lead the Eagles, winning three individual races on the day. The senior swam a national-qualifying 1:59.12 200 IM and also won the 100 and 200 back events. Danny Bowman won the 1000 free by 21 seconds in 10:01.20 and also won the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.52. The 400 free relay team of Tyler Decker, Jake Courey, Cody Barnes and Ehrenheim won the race with a season-best 3:14.67.
Asbury will take a week off before travelling to the Brenau Invitational in Gainesville, Ga. on Nov. 16-17.
