Eagles Take 2nd at Centre Invitational

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Asbury men and women both took second at the Centre College Invitational over the weekend, their first meet since the Asbury Invite nearly a month ago.  The men placed second behind Centre and in front of six other schools while the women also finished behind Centre in the seven team field.

The men swept the relays, taking the 200, 400 and 800 free relays and the 200 and 400 medley relays.  Daniel Bowman won the 500 and 1650 free events and went on to place second in the 400 IM. 

Trevor Ehrenheim was also a two-event winner, taking the 400 IM and the 200 back.  He also placed second in the 200 IM.  Cody Barnes won the 100 and 200 breast events while taking second in the 50 free.  Pat Armstrong also won an event, the 100 back.

The women won only one event but their depth kept them ahead of the pack.  Taryn Albright was the lone winner for the Eagles in the meet, taking the 100 fly.  Elizabeth Johns took second in the 1650 free event while Larissa Martin and Katie Duncan took third in the 400 IM and 100 back respectively. 

The women collected 397 points while Centre won the meet with 606.  Transylvania was third with 283.5 and Berry College (Ga.) 250.5.  Franklin College (Ind.), Bethel (Tenn.) and Berea College rounded out the field.

On the men’s side Asbury totaled 421 points while Centre won the meet with 590.5 points.  Franklin was third with 308 points and Berry followed with 258.  Transylvania, Berea, St. Catharine and Bethel rounded out the field.

The Eagles will be in action again on January 28th as they head to Williamsburg, Ky. to face Cumberlands in a dual meet.
