Swimming Takes Victory over Transy
WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury men’s and women’s swimming teams each improved to 2-1 on the season in dual meets after disposing of Transylvania on Friday night. The men won 120-58 and the women cruised 122-60.
The women would gain two more qualifiers to NAIA Nationals as Larissa Martin qualified in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:02.84 and Elizabeth Johns made the cut for the 500 freestyle after posting a 5:24.58. The women would claim victories in six events on the night.
The men would win claim victories in eight events on the night, including seven individual events by seven different swimmers. They would also win the 200 Medley Relay. Malachi Oyer would take the 1000 free, Pat Armstrong the 50 free, Trevor Ehrenheim the 200 IM, Daniel Bowman the 100 fly, Jake Courey the 100 free, Friend Bechtel the 100 back and Cody Barnes won the 100 breast.
Asbury will host Union (Ky.) on Saturday for a dual meet starting at 1 p.m.
