Swimming takes Meet at Lindsey Wilson
COLUMBIA, Ky. – Asbury swimming hit the pool for the second time this season as both the men and women won their first meets of the year against Lindsey Wilson. The men won a close contest 132-115 while the women won easily 198-34.
The girls took both of the relays on the night, the 200 medley in 1:56.17 and the 200 free in 1:45.06. The guys would take only the 200 medley, in a time of 1:39.71. Both the guys and the girls would qualify for nationals in the 200 free. The girls would also take all 12 individual races on the night while the men would win only five of the 12 events.
The girls were led by four swimmers who won two events each: Elizabeth Johns, Larissa Martin, Katie Duncan and Larissa Meadows. Johns took the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:02.86 and the 500 free in 5:33.12. Martin won both the 200 free and the 200 IM in 2:03.67 and 2:20.24.
Duncan took the 100 and 200 back in 1:03.66 and 2:18.02 while Meadows won the 100 and 200 breast in 1:12.12 and 2:35.22. Her 200 breast time qualified for nationals. Other winners for the women included Rebecca Landry in the 200 fly, Ellen Worsham in the 50 free, Ranay Ray in the 100 free and Taryn Albright in the 100 fly.
On the guys’ side the Trevor Ehrenheim was the only repeat winner, taking the 200 back and the 200 IM in 2:01.23 and 2:01.86. He is now qualified in the 200 back for nationls. Tyler Decker won the 50 free in 22.71 as Cody Barnes took the 100 breast in 1:02.27 and Pat Armstrong took the 100 back in 54.62. Armstrong would qualify for nationals in the 100 back while Danny Bowman qualified in the 200 free with a second place finish.
The Eagles will host their alumni meet on Saturday before getting back in the water for competition as they host Transylvania on Friday November 4th.
