Bowman to Swim at Charlotte Grand Prix

Danny BowmanWILMORE, Ky. – Asbury swimmer Danny Bowman (Lodi, Cailf.) will swim for a chance to make the U.S. Olympic Trials when he competes at the 2011 Charlotte Ultraswim Grand Prix on Saturday May 14th and Sunday May 15th.  Bowman will have to make the pre-determined cut times in order to qualify for the Olympic Trials in 2012.

Bowman will swim the prelims of the 200 Butterfly at the Charlotte Grand Prix on Saturday morning with the finals to be held that night.  The rising sophomore just completed his first season with the Eagles where he placed second at NAIA Nationals in the mile and third in the 500 free.  He placed eighth in the 200 fly event at NAIA Nationals this year with a time of 1:55.08.  He will also swim the mile in Charlotte on Sunday in a timed finals format.  He placed second in that event at nationals with a 15:40.93.

The timed needed in the 200 Fly is 2:03.99 and the mile cut is at 15:53.59.  If Bowman swims under either of those times he will qualify for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb. beginning on June 25th.
