Swimming Signs Four

Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury Swim coach Dorothy Kempf has announced the first four swimmers to sign with the Eagles for the 2010-2011 season.  Rebecca Landry (Boone, N.C.), Hillary Fisher (Titusville, Fla.), Katie Duncan (Owensboro, Ky.) and Pat Armstrong (Golden, Colo.) will all swim for the Eagles next year.

Rebecca LandryRebecca Landry

Rebecca swam for the Watauga Swim Team based out of Boone, North Carolina.  She has been a state qualifier six years in a row and has qualified for sectionals twice.  Her best events are the 100-yard Butterfly, 200-yard Butterfly, and 100-yard Breaststroke.  She lists Spanish, Health & Wellness, and Missions as her academic interests.  Her sister Rachel is currently a swimmer at Milligan College in Tennessee.

Hillary Fisher

Hillary FisherFisher swam for Astronaut High School under Coach Colin Bateman and the Titusville Swim Team.  She has already qualified for the Florida State Meet in the 100-yard Breaststroke, 200-yard Medley Relay, and the 200-yard Freestyle Relay this year.  During her junior year Fisher placed 10th at state in the 100-yard Breaststroke, was regional champion and broke the school record in the event.  She was also an All-Conference First Team member last year.  For the Titusville Swim Team Fisher has competed in Florida Swimming's Senior Champs and Speedo's Sectionals.  She made the "B" Final at Senior Champs in the 100 and 200-yard Breaststroke and "C" Final at Sectionals in the 100 and 200-meter Breaststroke.  Fisher was also Vice President of Service in the National Honor Society, member of the Latin Honor Society, Biology Honor Society.  She is interested in Media Communications.

Katie Duncan

Duncan swims for her father Bill Duncan at Apollo High School in Owensboro, Kentucky and is a new member of the Owensboro Marlins Club Team.  As a freshman she swam on an undefeated medley relay team that set the school record and became Regional Champs.  Duncan has qualified for two individual events at the Kentucky State Meet all four years of high school, as well as finishing second in all events she's competed in at Regionals the last two years.  She holds four school records in individual events and lists her best events as the 100 Backstroke, 50 Freestyle, and 200 Freestyle.  Her mother, Kelly, swam for four years at Arizona State University.  Katie is interested in Athletic Training.

Pat Armstrong

Armstrong comes from Wheat Ridge High School  in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and the North Jeffco Swim Team from Arvada, Colorado.  Pat ArmstrongHe swims in the 100 Backstroke and 50 Freestyle events.  At Wheat Ridge Armstrong placed 7th in the 100 Backstroke at the 4A State Meet where he swam a 55.72.  He also swam a 22.9 in the 50 Freestyle split in the Medley Relay at the State Meet.  Armstrong was part of a record breaking Medley Relay in 2009.  He has been named First Team All-Conference, Second Team All-Conference twice, and also All-Conference Honorable Mention during his sophomore and junior seasons.  For North Jeffco he has qualified for sectionals in the 100 Backstroke.  Armstrong is interested in Sports Medicine.
