Four Named All-KIAC for Third Straight Year

Dylan FoutsWILMORE, Ky. – Four Asbury men’s soccer players were named All-Conference and Dylan Fouts was named Defensive Player of the Year for the third straight year.  Fouts along with fellow seniors Trent Popp, Jonathan Rehner and Randy Troyer were all named to the All-KIAC team.

This is the third straight year that all four have been selected to the all-conference team and the fourth for Fouts.  The Lexington native finishes out his career with 15 shutouts including three this year.  He had a 1.80 goals allowed average on the season and allowed only six goals in four conference matches this season.  His 349 saves and 32 wins are the most in school history since 2004.

Popp and Rehner formed one of the most dynamic scoring tandems in school history throughout the last four years.  Popp set the school record for goals (50) and points (115) while Rehner set the new standard for assists with 10.  This year alone Popp scored a team-high 16 goals including a hat-trick in the KIAC Tournament finals.  He also had nine assists on the year.  Rehner led the team with 11 assists on the year, which ranks 13th in the NAIA this season.  The forward added seven goals.  Randy Troyer started 78 matches in his career, the most in school history and has been a key cog in the Eagle defensive unit over the past four years.  The Eagles posted five shutouts on the season.

Asbury finished the season 12-7-1 overall with a 2-1-1 record in the KIAC.  The Eagles lost in the KIAC Tournament championship game to Point Park.  Asbury’s 26 wins over the past two seasons are the second most in a two year span.
