Men's Soccer Caps Weekend with 14-0 Rout of Hiwassee

Randy TroyerWILMORE, Ky. – Five seniors accounted for five goals and four assists in a 14-0 rout of Hiwassee on Homecoming and senior night on Saturday.  The Eagles will finish the regular season on Monday at home against Salem International.

Asbury (10-6-1) took an NAIA season-high 61 shots in the contest including 36 in the first half.  The Eagles scored seven goals in each half as Billy Congleton led the team with three goals in just 25 minutes of action.  Randy Troyer added two goals and an assist in 33 minutes, scoring his first two goals of the season. 

Garrett Davis added a goal and two assists as 11 different Eagles scored in the game.  All four senior field players scored in the game, as Trent Popp, Jonathan Rehner, Josh Bruan and Troyer each found the back of the net.  Jesse Peterson, Cliff Evans, Chris Israel, Griffin Wilcoxon and Josh Webb all scored as well.  Webb notched his first career goal in the second half.

Dylan Fouts recorded his 15th career shutout and 30th win in goal for the Eagles.  Hiwassee didn’t take a shot in the match and struggled to possess the ball in their attacking half. 

Asbury has won six straight and recorded three straight shutouts. During that time the Eagles have outscored their opponents 33-3.

Asbury will host Salem International in their regular season finale on Monday at 3 pm before awaiting their seed and opponent in the KIAC Tournament that is scheduled to begin on November 6.
