Men's Soccer Disposes of Toccoa Falls 3-0

Mark FitchWILMORE, Ky. – Asbury men’s soccer had little trouble in defeating Toccoa Falls 3-0 on Tuesday, limiting TFC to only one shot in the entire match.  The Eagles improve to 9-6-1 on the season with two regular season games left.

Garrett Davis broke open the scoring in the 26th minute, netting his seventh goal of the season after Adam Howard crossed the ball from the right side.  Toccoa’s defender couldn’t clear the ball and it bounced right to Davis who beat the keeper from right in front of the goal.  Jesse Peterson scored the second goal three minutes before the half.  Randy Troyer played Peterson in past the defense and Peterson beat the keeper for his sixth goal.

The Eagles took 24 shots in the match, 15 after the break, as Toccoa managed just one shot in the entire match and it came within the final minutes.  Asbury also took all six corners in the match.

Mark Fitch had the nicest goal of the match, hitting a strike from 35 yard out in the 55th minute for his second goal of the season.  Kyle Blair slide the back to Fitch who hit a rocket into the back of the net.

Asbury recorded their second straight shutout and fourth of the season in the win.  Dylan Fouts missed out on his third shutout of the season after leaving in the 65th minute after a collision in the box.  Fouts had a cut on the bottom of his chin.

The Eagles will host Hiwassee College on Saturday night for Homecoming before closing out the regular season on Monday against Salem International.  The KIAC Tournament is set to begin on Tuesday November 6.
