Billy CongletonBEREA, Ky. – Asbury men’s soccer won their fourth straight on Thursday night, defeating Berea 3-0 in the Eagles’ KIAC regular season finale.  The Eagles finish conference play at 2-1-1 and improve to 8-6-1 overall.

Josh Braun netted the first goal in the game, just moments into the contest.  It was his third goal of the season for the senior.  Just two minutes later, in the 5th minute, Billy Congleton scored off an assist from Jonathan Rehner.  Congleton now has two goals this year and Rehner is now second on the team with six assists.  Garrett Davis scored the final goal with seconds left in the contest to bring the final count to 3-0.  Davis is tied with Adam Howard for second on the team with six goals.

The Eagles dominated the field on the night, taking 28 shots to Berea’s six.  Asbury put 16 on target while Berea managed only two.  This was the second shutout of the season for Dylan Fouts and third overall for the team.  The last shutout occurred against Mt. St. Joseph on September 22, a span of seven games.

Asbury wrapped up conference play with the win over Berea and has finished over .500 in league play for the past five years.  They will wait for their seeding for the KIAC/GCAC Tournament to begin in two weeks.  The tournament will be seeded by Longo rating and not by record as Talladega College joins the other five KIAC members for a direct qualification to the NAIA National Tournament.

The Eagles will be in action at home for their final three games of the season, first hosting Toccoa Falls College on Tuesday at 7 pm.
