Fouts, Popp Take KIAC Awards

Dylan Fouts and Trent PoppBEREA, Ky. – Asbury University seniors Dylan Fouts and Trent Popp were named the KIAC men’s soccer defensive and offensive players of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, October 15th. This is his second player of the week award of the season for both players.

 The Eagles finished the week 2-0 after picking up wins at Ohio Christian (3-1) and at home against University of the Cumberlands (4-1). Fouts only allowed a pair of goals last week. Fouts made five saves in 180 minutes in goal on the week. 

Popp scored three goals on the week, including two against Cumberlands.  The midfielder also added an assist against Ohio Christian.  He has recorded back-to-back double digit goal seasons for the first time in over 10 years for the Eagles.  His 11 goals ranks third in the KIAC.

Asbury improved their overall record to 6-6-1. They are currently 0-1-1 in conference play with two games remaining in league play. The Eagles will return to action on October 16th when they host Cincinnati Christian University.
