Eagles Break Winless Streak with 3-1 Win

Trent PoppCIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – Asbury men’s soccer defeated Ohio Christian 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon, snapping a three game winless streak.  The Eagles defeated the TrailBlazers 2-1 to start the 2011 season.

Trent Popp added his ninth goal of the season as Caleb Griffin scored his second and Garrett Davis added his fourth for the Eagles.  With one more goal Popp would become the first player in over 10 years to record two double-digit goal seasons.  Popp led the team with 22 goals last season.

Popp also added an assist giving him 99 career points.  He would become the first player since 2002, when records can be traced back to, to notch 100 career points.  Michael Krupa and Billy Congleton also added an assist for the Eagles.  Dylan Fouts made one save for Asbury as the Eagles improve to 5-6-1 on the season. 

Asbury will return home for five of their final six games, first hosting Cumberlands (Ky.) on Friday at 7 pm.
