Popp Named NCCAA All-American

Trent PoppWILMORE, Ky. – For the second time in a week redshirt-junior midfielder Trent Popp has been named an All-American, this time by the National Christian College Athletic Association.  Popp is a 2nd Team selection and was named an NAIA Honorable Mention selection last week.

Popp (Danville, Ind.) becomes the first NCCAA 2nd Team All-American since 1996, and the sixth since 1994.  He scored 22 goals and recorded four assists on the season, ranking seventh in the NAIA in goals scored and 10th in total points.

Asbury won a school record tying 14 games on the season and finished with their third straight tie for first in the KIAC.  They would win the KIAC Tournament for the third times in school history and competed in the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament.

In addition to being named an NCCAA and NAIA All-American, Popp was also named KIAC Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight year, KIAC All-Conference Team, GCAC/KIAC/AMC Unaffiliated Player of the Year, GCAC/KIAC/AMC All-Conference Team, NCCAA Mid-East Region Co-Player of the Year and NCCAA All-Region Team.

Teammates Jonathan Rehner and Dylan Fouts were also named NCCAA Mid-East All-Region players.
