Eagles Fall on the Road

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Asbury’s men’s soccer team lost a conference game for the first time since the 2009 season, a span of nine matches, on Tuesday as they fell to Cincinnati Christian 1-0.  This pulls the Eagles out of the driver’s seat in the conference as three teams have one loss and Mountain State is unbeaten (2-0).  Asbury’s final KIAC match will be against Mountain State on October 21st.

Nathan Chestnut knocked home the lone goal in the game for CCU (4-9, 2-1 KIAC) in the 34th minute.  Chestnut hit a volley from distance that slipped into the top corner, past Asbury keeper Dylan Fouts.

“Obviously I’m not very happy about the result tonight,” said head coach Ben Andrews.  “I don’t think we played up to our ability tonight or really for the past few games.  We need to figure out a way to play better every night we take the field.”

The Eagles (8-3-2, 2-1 KIAC) took 20 shots in the game and had several chances in the final minute, but for the third time in five road games would be shutout.  Asbury is 2-3 on the road and 6-0-2 at home this year.

Asbury will be on the road again on Saturday as they head to Georgetown for a 6 p.m. match.
