Men's Soccer Announces 2011 Campaign

Asbury's men's soccer team will play 11 home matches in 2011.WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury University men’s soccer coach Ben Andrews has released the team’s 2011 schedule.  In his first year at the helm Andrews led the Eagles to a share of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Regular Season Title with the first undefeated conference mark in school history at 2-0-2.  The Eagles were 3-10-4 overall.

The season gets underway with a home match at 7 p.m. against Ohio Christian on Friday August 26th  at the Asbury Soccer Complex.  The Eagles will play their first five matches at home and six of their first seven.  They will play 11 of 18 regular season matches in Wilmore.

During the opening stretch Asbury will host St. Catharine on August 31st, Pikeville on September 2nd, St. Francis (Ind.) on Sept. 6th and Campbellsville on September 9th.

The longest stretch of road games comes in mid-October when the Eagles travel to Cincinnati Christian for a KIAC match on October 11th followed by matches on October 15th at Georgetown and October 18th at Montreat.

The season comes to a close during a three-game home stand that will see Mountain State, Shawnee State and Ohio State-Mansfield visit Wilmore.  Ohio State-Mansfield will end the season on Homecoming Weekend, Saturday October 29th for a 7 p.m. start.

The 2011 KIAC Tournament has yet to be determined but will be held the week of November 1.  Due to the lack of the minimum six teams needed for direct qualification to the NAIA National Tournament the KIAC has been paired with the America Mideast Conference and Talladega College out of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.  It has yet to be determined who will qualify for this Unaffiliated Tournament from each conference, but the winner will advance to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round on November 19th.
